Steve Hopwood

Owner Swift & Sure

Professional Advisor, Motivational Speaker, & Actor

On the 24th of July, 1986, Steve was involved in a motorcycle accident where he was badly injured.

This accident was life-changing - Steve woke up three days later in hospital minus his right arm below the elbow and with his right leg held together by pins. A few days later it too was amputated.

Despite the trauma he encountered and incredible challenges he faced Steve remained extremely positive, and with the unwavering support of his family Steve learnt to adapt and thrive.

Following the accident he was invited to join the Norwich branch of BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association), which gave him opportunity to participate in various activities that he might not otherwise have attempted, this included scuba diving, sailing, and skiing, he also won a scholarship to learn to fly a light aircraft.

Steve’s infectious positivity and determination led to him setting up his own transportation business in 2003, where he  began undertaking journeys for local hauliers in his trusty Ford Transit van.

In addition to his business Steve works as a motivational speaker, is an actor, and also advises professionals who work with amputee’s helping them to go ‘’beyond the theory/science’’ and actually learn from someone with lived experience of the challenges he faces as an amputee.
